Safe Sanctuary Training

Liberty United Methodist Church requires all people who work with our children, youth or vulnerable adults to be Safe Sanctuary Certified. This program enables both the children and adults who work with them to be safe within our church community.

To become Safe Sanctuary certified, you must attend a training session every four years. Training is held at the church or can be taken online. Classroom training takes about 1½ hours. The cost for the federal and county background checks is $14, and while LUMC pays for that, you have the option to donate that cost and have it added to your giving statement. Online training takes about 2 hours and that time can be broken up as you need it. The cost for the federal and county background check is $30 and must be paid by you at the time you begin the training. You can pay by credit card or through your PayPal account if you have one. LUMC can reimburse the cost if you turn your receipt in to the accounting office. Either format teaches everything from two-deep leadership to appropriate ways to deal with difficult situations and more.
