DIRT (Disaster Response Team) This is a very active outreach group, led by Mission's Coordinator Kevin Fisher, that ministers to communities effected by natural disasters, such as floods, hurricanes, tornados and ice storms. The DIRT Team is chainsaw certified and is a go-to team on the state and national level. |

Cooking Up A Storm Cookin’ Up a Storm Mobile Food Kitchen is used to feed victims and responders in the aftermath of a natural disaster. Cookin’ Up a Storm is also used locally to serve meals the second Thursday of each month. If you would like to volunteer for a 3 hour shift serving meals, contact Tricia Kiely. |

Faithworks Unlike the DIRT Team, which is for Disaster Response, Faithworks helps citizens of our local community with various projects; from trimming trees, fixing houses and building wheelchair ramps. Thursday Night Homeless Ministry LUMC feeds the homeless every Thursday night at 7-8 locations throughout Clay County and the surrounding Kansas City metro area. This ministry always provides the homeless with a hot meal. Clothing, blankets, sanitary items and health kits are also provided. Cookson, OK One week every summer LUMC heads to Cookson to serve the Cherokee Nation in a variety of ways. Vacation Bible School is conducted for 40-60 kids each day. Minor repairs and home improvements are done on homes throughout the area. There are so many needs and so many ways to be the hands and feet of Christ in Cookson.
